Abstract

This is a drawing depicting a man spinning cotton. It was executed in the mid tenth century AH / sixteenth CE in Iran, possibly in Qazwīn. The drawing is framed by verses in nastaʿlīq script inscribed in panels, and the whole is surrounded by an outer border with animals and vegetal decoration on a blue background.
